What About Quality in Early Learning and Child Care?
As a system of early learning and child care (ELCC) develops in Alberta, a major concern is ensuring that quality is high. But what constitutes high quality? Researchers at the Community-University Partnership for the Study of Children, Youth, and Families have analyzed data about what Alberta’s parents think about quality. Based on this research and other work, the Edmonton Council for Early Learning and Care has generated a position paper to articulate the ingredients for a high-quality system of ELCC and recommendations for how to get there. The research and the position paper will be described, and presenters look forward to comments, suggestions, and ideas.
